What is a lunar day?
A lunar day, as used in this calendar, is a traditional period counted from one local moonrise to the next. Lunar day 1 begins at the exact new moon and ends at the next moonrise, so it can last only a few hours. There are 29 or 30 lunar days in a lunar month.
Moonrise depends on location. This means the lunar day can change at different times in different cities. Choose your city on the home page to see its local timings.
Each day has a traditional symbol and interpretation. These are astrological ideas for reflection, not predictions. This numbering is not the same as the Moon’s age in days, a civil calendar date or the Hindu tithi system.
